Coping with Depression
Depression is a bottomless hole,
With no ladder to climb out,
You cry out for help, but no answer comes,
You are shattered by grief and by doubt.
You feel lost and helpless,
The sun shines, you really don't see it,
You feel engulfed by this terrible plight,
You wonder if all of your problems
Are worth this terrible strife;
There seems to be no end to your suffering,
You think about taking your life.
But a small voice inside says this is a phase
In whatever the Lord means to be,
So you pick up your load and move forward again,
So your heart and mind will be free
To handle whatever the future may hold;
You pray that this time you won't fail,
You feel God's kind hand on your shoulder
And know, with His help, you'll prevail.
The lesson you learn, when things seem so bleak,
Is that no matter how utterly sad,
Your life may seem sometimes,
With God's help, it isn't really that bad.
