Discover the Joy
Oh, to be a child at Christmas
To see through eyes of blushing bride
To feel the wind of my first coaster
To throw my wondering heart wide
I remember moments of amazement
I remember staring at the moon
I remember anticipation so intense
I just wanted it to be over - soon
And when it was - I cringed and cowered
For the moment was gone too fast
And the sense of awe and wonder
Succumbed to high speed crash
It could be me, I readily admit
But it sometimes seems
The anticipation means more
Than the event
Moments of wonder
Seem few and far between
I used to find them often
Now wonder's looking lean
Children learn the lesson
It's a lesson they learn well
They stare in wide-eyed wonder
For reasons they can't tell
And Jesus said His Kingdom
Was made for just such hearts
The kind that discover joy
Without tearing wonder apart
