O Lord, we thank you placing us here upon this land
where generations of Americans have lived and prospered,
fought and died for freedom
for ourselves and for the world.
We are Americans
a people blessed.
We are especially grateful for those who recognize
that freedom's fight can never be over.
We thank you for this thorn.
It's piercing pain has awakened in us
a need to stand for those things that we believe in.
We are Americans
we know the value of liberty.
Rekindle in us the wisdom of our founding fathers
and a sense of pride in who we are as a people,
that we may respect and honor those who have sacrificed
their blood, sweat and tears for this land.
We are Americans
we will stand.
May we always be one nation, under God.
