Journal - On Display

Every good and every perfect gift comes down from
above from the Father of Lights.   St. James 1:17

The day was
Done dinner
Was over and
I finally had
A moment to
Sit.

Exhaustion
Had set in
From the
Combination
Of high heat
And humid
Air.

The festival
Was over
The picnic
Finished
Dishes
Done.

Quietly I
Had slipped
Outside to
Water the
Clematis
And refill
The stone
Birdbath.

I guess
I got
Carried
Away
As I
Began
Spraying
In an ever-
Widening
Arc.

The mist
Falling softly
On my sun-
Kissed face
Was very
Seductive.

Suddenly I
Held the
Hose over
My head
And allowed
The cold
Drops to
Saturate
Me!

Shaking my
Head like
A wet dog,
I was be-
Moaning
The fact
To The LORD
That today
was America s
234th Birthday!
The Celebration
of her In-
Dependence
As a Sovereign
Nation and
Yet the big
Parade and
Fireworks
Would not be
Held until
Tomorrow!

How could that be, LORD?

The water had
Sufficiently
Cooled me
And I shut off
The faucet and
Hurried back
To the gazebo
Porch.

I sat down
In my favorite
Chair which
Also provided
Me the best
View.

It is my
Custom to
Sit there
And marvel
While my
Heart is
Sending its
Messages
Of Love and
Praise and
Thanksgiving
To the LORD
For all He
Has given
Us.

No fireworks, LORD..
But I m DAZZLED
Anyway!

Then without
Notice the
Wet grass
Began
Lighting
Up the
Dusky
Eve!

As only
The LORD
GOD Almighty
Can do He
Put on display
The work of
His hands as
Hundreds of
Fireflies took
The stage and
Gave me a
Thrill no man-
Made fireworks
Could ever
Compete
With!

I love You
So my ABBA!
I cried aloud
Receiving His
Gift with joy
And acknowledging
Why America is
Great.. and
Free.

She too
Is the
Work of
His hands
And she is
Always on
Display.
