My God Is Near

As I stand in my garden,
And gaze yonder to green hills,
I hear the children's laughter,
And a summer bird's sweet trill.
Then comes a gentle whisper,
          "Have no fear"
And I know from deep within,
            My God is near!

As I look up in early evening,
I see the blazing skies,
Turn into twinkling lights,
And a golden moon arise.
Again I hear the gentle whisper,
          "Have no fear"
And I know from deep within,
            My God is near!

And when I wake up in the morning,
With bright sunshine all around,
And blue skies overhead...
I feel I am walking on holy ground.
Again I hear the gentle whisper,
          "Have no fear"
And I know from deep within
            My God is near!

No matter where I travel,
Along life's twisting trail,
I drink in all this beauty,
And it never seems to fail,
I hear that gentle whisper,
          "Have no fear"
And I know from deep within
            My God is near!
