Nocturnal Reverie
When night-time comes
And the cares of the day
Settle down in my weary head,
I would not ask
For the fluffy repose
Of a downy-soft featherbed.
Give me a pillow
That's filled with peace
To rest my head upon,
A garment of praise
That's spun out of joy
Is all that I would don.
With blankets wove
Of serenity
To keep me warm as toast,
Sweet slumber mine
As I recline
Secure in the Holy Ghost.
O, give me a dreaming place
Not made on earth,
But fashioned up above...
Then I can sleep
In the hand of my Lord,
In a bed
That is made
Of Love.

"In peace I will both
lie down and sleep,
for Thou alone, O Lord,
dost make me to dwell
in safety."
(Psalm 4:8 NASB)
