On Keeping in Touch
Do your friends leave when troubles come
Or do you simply pull away
From those who've always loved you most?
Because there's nothing they can say
That will ease the pain and grief you feel
As you go through every day;
Fighting to simply stay afloat,
You're too tired to even pray.
You feel abandoned and forlorn
As your problems continue to mount,
So many things are going wrong
That you really have lost count.
At the very time you need your friends,
Why do you pull into your shell?
Is it to keep from hurting those you love,
The ones who know you so well?
Man cannot survive in a vacuum, they say,
He needs to communicate,
So pick up the phone and make contact again
Before you find it's too late.
