O God, our lives are troubled
and our hearts are filled with grief.
From senseless acts of violence,
we beg you for relief.
Help us to solve the problems
that plague our weary souls
and give us strength and comfort
when the world seems bleak and cold.
Teach us, Lord to know the impact
of our tone when we debate.
May our words be filled with wisdom
and never filled with hate.
Grant patience enough to listen
when another speaks his mind,
and even when we disagree,
make our rebuttal kind.
May we stand for truth and justice
as we honor your command
to treasure life and liberty
across our blessed land.
