Suddenly, There You Were
Dedicated to adopted children and caring
A baby of our own to hold; But we had to face the fact, That we'd both grown much too old. Then one day our telephone rang, A newborn needs a place to stay; It's in the hospital's nursery, How soon can you be on your way? So off we hurried to meet you, Not knowing if you were boy or girl; Then they showed us a baby boy, And so suddenly, there you were. Just ten days old and oh, so small, You didn't even weigh five pounds; They said we could take you home that day, I thought they were kidding around. So into our home we brought you, Not knowing just how long you'd stay; But we cared for you and gave you love, And for your safety we always prayed. Then just about one year later, We received yet another call; Your parents had to give you up, They couldn't care for you at all. So we did what God was asking of us, We agreed to make you our very own; We were more than happy to do it, To provide you with a loving home. Within a few, very short months, The papers were legal you see; We love you as our very own, And that s how it will always be. It matters not where you came from, You are a child of God for sure; We so prayed that we could keep you, And then suddenly, there you were.
