This time of year, we are rushing around trying to gather every last minute we can to present these past 12 months as a success. The barometer of our success is too often equated with an overwhelming stack of presents placed beneath a tree we more than likely overpaid for. In all this hurry, we far too often lose sight of ourselves and where we really are, because we are gauging our worth on what we look like rather than who and what we really are.

Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.

Anne Frank

What if the greatest part of you is the one that believes?

We become familiar with what grows in the turmoil of every day life, the things that grow in the shadow and dark – hate, resentment, greed, struggle, stress, abuse, trauma. But what about what grows in the light? What about those shining parts of us that we truly wish we were? Those fantastic parts of us, that we really should be, those are the places that thrive in the light and truth of ourselves – love, hope, peace, kindness, truth.

So, this season, as the year winds down and the chaos reaches a fever pitch, take a breath and remember who you are. Let that light in your heart warm and shine. There is no better season or time to believe than this one.

Believe.

This song is from my personal favorite Christmas movie. It’s worth a listen and the movie, Klaus, is worth a watch. Its a story about way more than presents or Christmas.

All I know is
If happy lives a mile away
A couple steps is all it takes
If kindness lives in everyone
Then all it takes is standing up

Can’t touch it, see it (Oh-oh-oh)
But you can always feel it (Oh-oh-oh)
The greatest things you’ll ever know
Are invisible (Are invisible)

You can’t take it, steal it (Oh-oh-oh)
But you can always feel it (Oh-oh-oh)
The greatest things you’ll ever know
Are invisible (The greatest things you’ll ever know)
